Accessing Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) Services

At the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) you can access services related to registration at the job center, job search and vocational training, among others. Access to these services, as well as the clarification of doubts, can be done online, by video call, at the desk or by telephone.

IEFP services available online

Some IEFP (Institute of Employment and Vocational Training) services can be accessed online via the Iefponline website, using your computer, mobile phone or tablet.

On this gov.pt website, you can find information about various IEFP services, what can and cannot be done online, and what you will need to use these services.

Use the Digital Mobile Key for online services

To use public services online, we recommend that you have a Digital Mobile Key (CMD). With the CMD, you can sign in securely to various public and private websites (banks, insurance companies, hospitals, etc.) using your mobile phone or email.

Video call service at IEFP

IEFP also has video call assistance available. However, it is only available for the following services:

  • Registration/re-registration with the IEFP
  • Searching for job vacancies.

The appointment for the video call service must be made through the SIGA platform. To book, follow these steps:

  1. click on “make your appointment here” and choose “selection by entity” 
  2. select “Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional” and log in
  3. Choose the topic you want to schedule “registration/re-enrollment in the IEFP” or “search for job offers” and in the type of service click on “video”.

On the day and time of your appointment, access the link you received in your email to enter the video call.

IEFP support by video call

IEFP offers support by video call, in individual and group sessions, for those who have already registered with a job centre.

In individual sessions, you can validate your registration for employment and find job vacancies and employment measures, etc.

Group sessions provide information to several people at the same time on their rights and duties, unemployment benefit rules and how to use the services on the iefponline portal, such as applying for job vacancies.

IEFP services in person

IEFP services are provided at any IEFP desk, including the service points in the Citizens Shops.

Face-to-face appointments at the IEFP do not need to be scheduled, but if you prefer, you can make an appointment. Unscheduled appointments are subject to the number of tickets available each day.

You can schedule an appointment for the following services:

  • General attendance, declarations, changes/updates
  • Registration / re-registration for employment, with or without application for unemployment benefit
  • Search for job offers
  • Recruitment of workers
  • Programs and measures
  • Answers to training, Qualifica Center and other supports.

The appointment is made through the following tools:

NB: You must make an appointment for each matter you wish to deal with. If you are entitled to priority service, you do not need to make an appointment.
