What is "Caregiver's Rest"?
“Caregiver’s rest" within the RNCCI is understood as the set of interventions that provide periods of relief or effective rest to the caregivers, temporarily freeing them from the activities inherent to providing care. It aims to reduce the overload or the amount of care provided by caregivers and to enable them to restore their energy, deal with personal and/or health matters, etc.
In the Long Term and Maintenance Units, the caregiver's rest is provided through the temporary hospitalization of the dependent person.
Maximum period of 90 days per year.
In Mental Health typologies, namely in Moderate Support Residences (RAMO) and Maximum Support Residences (RAMA), there is also room for the admission of users, for the caregiver’s rest.
Maximum period of 45 days per year.
How to access the caregiver's rest?
In order to access the caregiver's rest within the RNCCI, contact should be made with any Primary Health Care professional – Health Centres Group (ACES) or Health Centre (CS) in the area of residence.
Through this signage, a reference proposal will be prepared and sent for validation to the Local Coordinating Team (ECL) of the ACES area of influence.
The patient and the caregiver must be involved throughout this process.
