Travel agencies and tour operators – Reporting changes and revalidating compulsory insurance

Any change in the National Register of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (RNAVT) must be submitted online via the National Tourism Registry website.

The company details, management team and establishments or trade marks that the company owns can be updated. It is also possible to update the civil liability insurance, the Travel and Tourism Guarantee Fund (FGVT) or to report the temporary closure of the agency.

Who is responsible for reporting changes in the RNAVT?

When should changes in the RNAVT be reported?

Any change in the travel or tour agency’s registration details must be reported within 30 working days.
The civil liability policy revalidation details must be updated directly in the RNAVT form, replacing the previous details, within five working days after the expiry date of the policy.

Once you have signed in on the National Tourism Registry portal, follow the steps below.

  1. Under ‘Opções’ [Options], select ‘Alterar dados’ [Modify details].
  2. In the changes in registration form, choose one of the following options depending on the changes you wish to make:
    • Company details
    • Management team
    • Brand(s) owned by the company
    • Establishments
    • Civil liability insurance
    • Travel and Tourism Guarantee Fund (FGVT)
    • Temporary closure
  3. Attach the documents required and submit the request

If you have not submitted all the documents, you will not be able to proceed with the request for changes.

Once your request has been submitted, reviewed and approved, you will receive an email confirming the changes.

How much

Reporting changes in RNAVT is free of charge.

Obligations

Travel agencies may not operate without proving that they have valid civil liability insurance.

If a travel or tour agency does not prove that it has valid civil liability insurance, Turismo de Portugal notify the Portuguese Economic and Food Safety Authority (ASAE). Non-compliance may lead to cancellation of your registration in the National Register of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (RNAVT).
