Tank for transporting dangerous goods – Change of tank code
The tank code is a unique code assigned to each tank for the transport of dangerous goods. It is used in inspection reports, authorisations for use and International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) certificates.
An application to change any part of the tank code must be submitted on the IPQ portal whenever changes are made to the tank.

Procedure
The request to change the tank code of a tank for the transport of dangerous goods must be submitted via the service portal of the IPQ after the extraordinary inspection has been carried out.
To apply:
- Go to the IPQ portal and sign in.
- Select the equipment and create the ‘Alteração do Código-Cisterna’ [Change of tank code].
- Complete the form, attach the descriptive report and, if applicable, the documentation provided by the workshop that carried out the alterations to the tank.
After the application to change the tank code has been completed on the IPQ portal, you must request the change of the tank code in the equipment data. Submit the request by email to: licenciamento.bde@ipq.pt.
How much
Requesting a change to the tank code is free of charge. However, there is a cost for inspecting the tank. Please check with the inspection body for details.
