Processing of wood, conifer bark and wood packaging materials for intra-Community movement and export to third countries – registering a processing company
To register a company that processes wood, conifer bark (pine) or wood packaging materials, you must submit an online application on the CERTIGES platform. This registration is required for intra-Community movement and for export to third countries.
Registration applications are submitted to the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV).

To apply for registration, the company must comply with the technical requirements stated by the DGAV for the processing of wood, conifer bark and wood packaging.
Procedure
To register a company on CERTIGES, please take the following steps:
- Access the CERTIGES platform.
- Click on ‘Registar’ (Register).
- Complete the form.
- Click on ‘Submeter’ (Submit).
Once you have a CERTIGES account, complete the phytosanitary registration by following these steps:
- Access your account on the CERTIGES platform. If you are not logging in, click on ‘Entrar’ (Log in) on the CERTIGES platform.
- Click on ‘Outras Atividades’ (Other activities) and select your line of business.
- Click on ‘Submeter’ (Submit).

Examination of the application
After applying for registration:
- The DGAV contact you by telephone to schedule an inspection of the business premises.
- You will receive an invoice for payment of the inspection, by email. You have 30 calendar days to make the payment.
- After the inspection, and if it is approved, the DGAV will issue the licence.
- You will receive your phytosanitary registration number by email.
You can track the status of the application on the CERTIGES platform. You only need to reapply for registration and inspection if the kiln changes location or if new kilns are added.
How much
Applying for registration is free of charge, but each inspection costs EUR 144.10.
Validity
Inspection
After receiving the registration application, the DGAV will schedule an inspection as soon as possible.
Payment
Once the DGAV sends you the invoice to pay for the inspection, you have 30 calendar days (including weekends and public holidays) to make the payment.
Issuing of licence and registration number
Following the inspection, if the registration application is approved, the DGAV will issue the licence and send the phytosanitary registration number as soon as possible.
