Certificate of tax paid by non-residents can now be requested on the Finance Portal

The Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (Finances) has simplified the issuing of the certificate for income tax paid by non-residents in Portugal.

From now on, requesting the certificate is free and can be done on the Portal das Finanças. To apply, you must log in to the portal using:

• Tax Identification Number (NIF) and password
• Digital Mobile Key (CMD)
• Citizen Card

Then, in the side menu, click on ‘All Services’. On the site map, in the ‘Documents and Certificates’ section, click on ‘Request Certificate’ and confirm your request.

The document can be consulted and validated at any time, also in the ‘Documents and Certificates’ area of the Finance Portal.
