Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly increases by 50 euros in June

The Council of Ministers has approved an extraordinary increase in the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (CSI). CSI beneficiaries will receive an extra 50 euros a month from June, with the reference value of the CSI rising to 600 euros.

This increase in the CSI is the first step towards achieving the goal, set out in the Government Program, of bringing the value of the supplement to 820 euros.

In the same vein, the government has also decided to eliminate children's income as a criterion and exclusion factor in the allocation of the CSI.

Free medicines for CSI beneficiaries

The Council of Ministers also approved free medicines for the approximately 145,000 beneficiaries of the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (CSI). The measure will apply automatically when prescription medicines are purchased from pharmacies.
