Invoices issued by undivided estates in the Tax and Customs Authority applications

15.07.2025

Undivided estates with a registered business can now issue invoices directly through the Portal das Finanças and the ATGo application. This will be extended to other legal entities in stages.

Until now, issuing these invoices was limited to natural persons.

What are undivided inheritances?

Undivided inheritance occurs when a person dies and the assets (such as houses, land, bank accounts, for example) are jointly owned by all the heirs, but have not yet been divided between them.

In other words:

  • The inheritance is in the name of all the heirs at the same time.
  • No heir owns a specific part of the assets - they all own the whole (e.g. they all own the same property together).

This situation continues until the assets are formally divided, that is when the inheritance is divided.
