New gov.pt app simplifies access to digital public services in Portugal
The first version of the gov.pt mobile app is now available, aiming to centralise access to public services in Portugal. In its initial phase, the app integrates the digital documents and authentication features from the former “id.gov.pt” and “Autenticação.gov” applications.
Throughout 2025, the app will integrate additional applications and features from the gov.pt portal and other Public Administration platforms, such as managing services, interacting with a virtual assistant, and receiving alerts about documents.
The app is available in mobile app stores for smartphones and other mobile devices.
Key features:
-
Digital documents: Access over 15 official documents, such as the Citizen Card, Driving Licence, and car insurance, on your mobile phone with full legal validity.
-
Chave Móvel Digital registration: Register using biometric authentication (facial recognition via your mobile).
-
Qualified digital signature: Sign digital documents with the same legal value as paper.
-
QR Code authentication: Access online or in-person services simply and securely.
What’s planned for future updates:

Personalised notifications: Receive reminders about obligations or important events related to State documents or services.
