Deadline to Apply for Cheque-livro extended to July 15

Young people born in 2005 and 2006 can apply for and use a Cheque-livro worth €20 to buy books at adherent physical bookshops. The deadline has been extended to July 15, 2025 (previously April 23).

The purpose of the Cheque-livro is to support the purchase of books, excluding schoolbooks, study guides, dictionaries, and books published outside Portugal.

Young people who meet all the following requirements can apply for a Cheque-livro:

• were born in 2005 or 2006
• live in Portugal
• hold a Citizen Card

How to apply for the Cheque-livro
To submit your application, log in to the Cheque-livro platform using your Citizen Card or Digital Mobile Key, and follow the steps to generate your voucher.

The QR code will be saved on the platform and must be shown at the bookshop when purchasing your book(s).

Where and how to use the Cheque-livro
You can check the list of adherent physical bookshops by district and choose where to use your voucher.

The Cheque-livro can be used on purchases of €20 or more. If your total exceeds that amount, you’ll need to pay the difference.
