The electronic notifications service allows you to receive notifications from entities digitally
Receive notifications from public authorities, such as responses to licensing requests or business cessation notices, from entities that have joined the service.
On the app, the portal, and your email
Simply register for the service using your Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card and set up your Unique Digital Address (MUD). The MUD is an email address of your choice where notifications will be sent.
How to subscribe to notifications?
1 – Access the service
You can register through the portal or on the app gov.pt.
It is possible to register as a citizen, company, or public entity. If you are a company or public entity, you can currently only register through the portal.
- Use your Digital Mobile Key (CMD) or Citizen Card to authenticate.
2 – Then, choose your Unique Digital Address (MUD) email
- Enter the email address where you want to receive notifications.
You can then choose another email address to automatically forward some notifications, for example, to a lawyer.
3 – Enter the confirmation code sent to your email
You can cancel the service at any time and reactivate it later.
How to change your Unique Digital Address (MUD)?
The Unique Digital Address (MUD) is an email address where you receive electronic notifications from entities that have joined the service. An electronic notification has the same legal validity as a registered letter on paper. Therefore, the recipient is considered notified five days after receiving the notification.
To change theUnique Digital Address (MUD) for electronic notifications:
1 – Access the service
You can change it through the portal in the reserved area or on the app gov.pt under “Gerir serviços”.
2 – Then, enter the new email address you want to use as your Unique Digital Address (MUD)
3 – Enter the confirmation code sent to your email
How can I forward notifications?
You can forward the notifications you receive to any email address. For example, to your lawyer or chartered accountant.
If you want to forward multiple notifications:
1 – Access the service
You can set up forwarding through the portal in the reserved area or on the app gov.pt under “Gerir serviços”.
2 – Then, enter the recipient’s name and email address.
The recipient must accept the invitation sent by email before they start receiving notifications.
3 – Finally, select which notifications the recipient can receive
Once the recipient has accepted the invitation, choose the notifications you want to forward in your reserved area on the portal or under “Gerir serviços” in the app.
If you want to forward only a specific notification by email:
1 – Access the service
You can access it through the portal or on the app gov.pt.
2 – Then, select the notification you want to forward
- In the app, tap “Mais opções” and then “Enviar por email”.
- On the portal, click “Configuration” and then “Rerounting”.
Can I have personal and company notifications?
On the portal, you can switch between personal notifications and those of a company, or between notifications from multiple companies. In the app, only personal notifications are available for now.
How long can I access my notifications?
Your electronic notifications will always be available in the email you choose as your Unique Digital Address (MUD). In the app or on the portal, they are only available for 2 years.
Who should I contact for questions about notifications?
You should contact the entity that issued the notification. Don’t worry, as the responsible entity is always indicated with your notification.
How can I cancel electronic notifications?
1 – Access the service
You can access it via the portal or the gov.pt app.
2 – Then, cancel the service
- In the app, tap “Manage services”, then “Cancel service”.
- On the portal, click “Electronic Notifications Platform”, then “Configuration”, followed by “General data”, and finally “Cancel account”.
