Subscribe to Electronic Notifications

Electronic notifications enable citizens, businesses, and public entities to receive communications from the public administration that have legal value. These notifications can be received by email, through a mobile app gov.pt or through gov.pt portal.

Who can subscribe to Electronic Notifications?

Individuals

People over the age of 18 with a Citizen Card.

Company representatives

To register, the company being represented must be a public limited company, a private limited company, a single-member private limited company or a cooperative.

The following individuals within the company may register:

  • Director
  • Manager
  • Executive
  • Legal Representative
  • Employee

To register, representatives must have business attributes linked to their Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card.

If you are a director, manager or executive, business attributes are assigned automatically — no action is required apart from completing the registration.

If you are a legal representative, you must link the business attributes to your Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card via the Professional Attribute Certification System (SCAP) on the Autenticacao.gov portal, with the authority of “Receipt and collection of postal correspondence”.

If you are an employee, someone in a senior role within the organisation must assign the employee attributes to you, with the authority of “Receipt and collection of postal correspondence”.

Representatives of public sector entities

The following individuals within the entity may register:

  • Public sector leaders
  • Local elected officials (municipal positions)
  • Employees

To register, representatives must have their attributes linked to their Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card.

If you are a public sector leader, you must link your public sector leader attributes and link the employee attributes, with the authority of “Receipt and collection of postal correspondence”.

If you are a local elected official, you must link your local elected official attributes and link the employee attributes, with the authority of “Receipt and collection of postal correspondence”.

If you are an employee, someone in a senior position within the entity must assign the employee attributes to you, with the authority of “Receipt and collection of postal correspondence”.

What are the documents and requirements to subscribe to Electronic Notifications?

If you are subscribing as a citizen

To sign up for electronic notifications, you must have:

  • A Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card to authenticate yourself
  • Email address to set as your Single Digital Address (MUD)

If you are signing up as a company representative

To sign up for electronic notifications, you must have:

  • A Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card to authenticate yourself
  • Email address to set as your Single Digital Address (MUD)

If you do not yet have a Digital Mobile Key, find out how to activate your Digital Mobile Key.

If you want to use your Citizen Card, find out how to authenticate yourself with your Citizen Card.

  • Email address to set as your Single Digital Address (MUD)

What is the support legislation?

Decree-Law nr. 93/2017, of 1 August - creates the Public Service of Electronic Notifications and the Unique Digital Address

Law nr. 9/2017, of 3 March - Authorizes the Government to create the public service of electronic notifications associated with the unique digital address

Ordinance No. 365/2017, of 7 December - Regulates the Public Service of Electronic Notifications (SPNE) associated with the unique digital address
