Industrial establishment – reporting the suspension of activity

The suspension of the activity of an industrial establishment for more than one year must be reported by the registered owner of that establishment. This service allows the suspension of activity in mainland Portugal to be reported to the coordinating entity.

How to report the suspension of activity of an industrial establishment

The suspension of activity can only be reported online.

To report a suspension of activity, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Go to the reserved area of the Responsible Industry System (SIR) and log in using your Digital Mobile Key (CMD) or Citizen Card.
  1. Click on the relevant company/establishment and choose the ‘Comunicação de Suspensão de Atividade’ (‘Report suspension of activity’) service
  2. Complete the form and submit it. You do not need to attach any documents when submitting the form.

After submission, the coordinating entity will review the report and, if necessary, may ask for more information. If everything is in order, the entity will send you a notification confirming the suspension of activity.
