Register a family member as an ADSE beneficiary
Spouses, descendants and ascendants of ADSE (Institute for Protection and Assistance in Illness) beneficiaries can be registered as family beneficiaries and access this healthcare subsystem.
The registration can be completed by the main beneficiary, their legal representative or the employer entity.

What are the documents and requirements to register a family member as an ADSE beneficiary?
Active beneficiaries can only register family members via their employer entity.
The registration request for descendants under guardianship, incapacitated descendants and ascendants of the active beneficiary must be submitted by the employer entity via “Atendimento Online” (online service desk) on the ADSE Direta portal.
Surviving beneficiaries and retired main beneficiaries can request the registration of family members at ADSE service desks, via ADSE Direta or by post.
To register family beneficiaries with ADSE, several documents must be submitted. The required documents depend on the type of family relationship and the age of the family member.
The list of required documents for each situation is available on the ADSE portal.
All documents must be in Portuguese or accompanied by a translation completed by a competent authority.
Active beneficiaries can only register family members via their employer entity.

- Digital Mobile Key (CMD - Chave Móvel Digital)
- Portuguese Citizen Card
- Tax Identification Number (NIF - Número de Identificação Fiscal) and password to access the Tax and Customs Authority portal
- Main beneficiary number and password to access the ADSE portal
