Who can request the dependent person’s supplement?

The citizens listed below which are under a situation of dependency and need the help of someone else to meet their daily basic needs (namely for the execution of domestic services, feeding support, movement support, hygiene care support):

  • Invalidity, old age and dependency pensioners of the general social security scheme and of the voluntary social security scheme
  • Old age and dependency pensioners of the non-contributory scheme and similar
  • Beneficiaries of the social benefit for inclusion 
  • Non-pensioner beneficiaries of the above-mentioned schemes, with a disease which might imply a special invalidity.

What are the documents and requirements to request the dependent person’s supplement?

You must meet the following conditions:

Be a pensioner under the general scheme or the special scheme for agricultural activities, that is, receive one of the following pensions:

  • Old-Age Pension
  • Disability Pension
  • Survivor’s Pension

Be a pensioner under the non-contributory scheme or an equivalent scheme, that is, receive one of the following pensions:

  • Social Old-Age Pension
  • Social Disability Pension under the Special Scheme
  • Widow’s Pension
  • Orphan’s Pension

If you are not a pensioner, you must:

  • Receive a Social Inclusion Benefit
  • Or have one of the following conditions:
    • Familial Amyloidosis, Machado-Joseph Disease, AIDS - Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, and rare diseases.
