Pedir a licença internacional de condução
An international driving permit (IDP) allows you to legally drive vehicles of the category for which your driving licence entitles you to drive, in countries that:
- are not in the European Union (EU);
- are not in the European Economic Area (EEA); and
- are signatories to the International Conventions on Road Traffic (Geneva Convention of 1949 and Vienna Convention of 1968).
An IDP is mandatory in some foreign countries, especially outside Europe and when you want to drive a hire car.
The IDP must always be accompanied by your driving licence.

To apply for an IDP, you must bring with you:
- a valid driving licence;
- an identification document;
- a tax identification number (TIN); and
- a current passport-sized photograph, in colour, with a plain and clear background

You can only apply for an international driving permit at an Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) service desk. The permit will be drawn up on the spot and immediately handed over to the applicant.
You must bring all the necessary documents with you.

An international driving permit is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. If the driving licence on the basis of which the IDP is issued has a shorter period of validity, this will also be the period of validity of the IDP.
