What are the documents and requirements to pedir o subsídio de apoio ao cuidador informal principal?
The main informal caregiver must fulfil the following conditions:
- be aged between 18 and the legal age for entitlement to the old age pension
- your household's monthly reference income must be less than EUR 698,27 (1.3 times the value of the Social Support Index - IAS)*

- Log in to Segurança Social Direta with the Digital Mobile Key (CMD), Citizen Card or NISS (Social Security number) and password
- Under "Família" select "Estatuto do cuidador informal" and select the option "Pedir novo estatuto do cuidador informal"
- Follow the steps to complete the process.
On the location
You must submit the application for the Principal Informal Caregiver Support Grant:
- At Social Security service desks
- In the Citizen Shops with Social Security service desks.
By mail
Send the application for the Principal Informal Caregiver Support Grant to the address of one of the Social Security service desks.
