Tourist entertainment and maritime-tourism operators - Registration in the National Register of Tourist Entertainment Agents (Registo Nacional de Agentes de Animação Turística - RNAAT)
Tourist entertainment agents and maritime-tourism operators must register in the National Register of Tourist Entertainment Agents (Registo Nacional de Agentes de Animação Turística - RNAAT) in order to start their activity.

How much
The cost of registration in the RNAAT varies according to the size of the company and the type of recognition:
- Tourist entertainment companies and maritime-tourism operators, with or without nature tourism recognition:
- Microenterprise: 91.28 euros
- Non-microenterprise: 136.93 euros
- Tourist entertainment companies operating exclusively in urban environments, without nature tourism recognition:
- Microenterprise: 20.28 euros
- Non-microenterprise: 91.28 euros
The fee is non-refundable.

In the payment reference, indicate the Tax Identification Number (Número de Identificação Fiscal - NIF).
Obligations
Compulsory insurance
- Take out public liability and personal accident insurance covering all activities indicated in the registration form
- Update the insurance policies whenever there are changes to the activities registered in the RNAAT and report this via the portal
- If the policies do not detail the activities, they must include “tourist entertainment”, or “maritime-tourism operator”, or mention the applicable legal acts:
- Decree-Law no. 108/2009 of 15 May – Establishes the conditions for access to and exercise of the activity of tourist entertainment companies and maritime-tourism operators, as amended
- Decree-Law no. 149/2014 of 10 October – Approves the regulation of vessels used in maritime-tourism activity, where applicable
Compliance with the law
Registration in the RNAAT does not replace the licences or authorisations required for the use of equipment, infrastructure or establishments, nor for carrying out activities. The company must contact the competent authorities in advance.
Complaints book
Operators must maintain both anelectronic complaints book and a physical one. They must inform consumers that an electronic complaints book is available and must clearly and prominently indicate on their websites where it can be accessed.
Maritime-tourism activities
- Always record the number of passengers on board, for maritime safety reasons
- Ensure that crews receive appropriate information on good practices to be followed on board
