Change the address and other details registered with Social Security

Any Portuguese person or non-national registered with Social Security can change their address and other details registered with Social Security, such as telephone number, mobile phone number, email address and IBAN.

If you have a Citizen's Card, you can only change your address using the change address service on your Citizen's Card.

What are the documents and requirements to change the address and other details registered with Social Security?

To change your Social Security details, you will need to sign in online.

Online on Social Security Direct

You will need to sign in using one of the following means of authentication:

  • Citizen Card,
  • Digital Mobile Key (CMD),
  • your Social Security number and password.

To change your Social Security details, you will need to show an identification document in person.

In person

You will need to produce an identification document, such as:

  • Citizen Card
  • an identity card
  • a passport
  • a residence permit
  • a civil identification document from your country of origin (if you are a non national).

You will need to fill in the change of details request. The application form is also available at Social Security service desks.

Requests made by representatives

The legal representative must bring: a document identifying them as legal representative; an ID document for the person whose change of details is being requested.
