Request the Certificate of Admissibility of Company Name or Designation

The certificate of admissibility confirms that a company name or designation may be used by an entity. It states the entity’s registered office, legal form and planned activities, and is valid for three months.

This certificate is required when creating a company with a name that is not pre-approved, or when changing elements such as the company name, registered office (to a different municipality) or business activity (object).

Who can request the Certificate of Admissibility of Company Name or Designation?

Any partner, founder or associate, or another person with a proxy granting powers for the purpose.

The person itself, in case of a Sole Trader Entity with Limited Liability (EIRL), entrepreneur or sole trader.

Lawyers, notaries and solicitors may also request certificates of admissibility, without requiring proxy.

What is the price to request the Certificate of Admissibility of Company Name or Designation?

  • Regular request (response time: up to 10 workdays): 75 €
  • Urgent request (response time: 1 workday): 150 €

 

If you request the certificate online, you can pay by ATM or Credit card (visa or mastercard).

If the request is made in person at RNPC, you can pay with: cash; ATM; certified or bank cheque in EUR, from a Portuguese account, payable to IRN, I.P.

If you request by post, you have the following means of payment available: bank reference, enabling payment by ATM or visa/mastercard, which should be requested at rnpc@irn.mj.pt ; certified or bank cheque in EUR, from a Portuguese account, payable to IRN, I.P..
